How to Save Significantly Through Wholesale Membership, Essential Rewards and Monthly PV Promotions

If you are looking to take full advantage of the savings programs and promotions through Young Living, then you have come to the right place! But before we get started, let's make sure you have a clear understanding of each individual program, and then we'll dig in and explore the combined savings you can enjoy from wholesale membership, essential rewards and PV promotions together!
Wholesale Membership
For most people, the main attractions of a wholesale membership include access to products at a 24% off retail, and eligibility to enroll in Essential Rewards. However, there are additional perks to wholesale membership, too. Feel free to explore them on Young Living's Membership Benefits page.
Essential Rewards
Essential Rewards, often referred to as "ER," is a monthly automatic shipment program, similar to other subscription programs such as Amazon's "Subscribe and Save." Watch the video below to get a better look at the program.

Monthly PV Promotions
The PV (point value) promotional bonuses are one of my favorite perks. In case you are new to the concept of PV, every product is given a "point value." Many of Young Living’s products are full PV, meaning their point value equals their wholesale cost. So, a full PV product with a wholesale cost of $10.50 will also have a point value of 10.5. Some products, however, such as diffusers, are not full PV and their point value is a little less than their wholesale cost. However, most essential oils, supplements and personal care products are full PV.
Every month, a new collection of promotional products are available for FREE just for placing an order that meets one of four minimum point value tiers: 100 PV, 190 PV, 250 PV and 300 PV. You'll notice that you need to add less and less PV as you work up the tiers: you need an order totaling 100 PV to qualify for the first tier, an additional 90 PV to qualify for the second tier, an additional 60 PV to qualify for the third tier, and only an extra 50 PV to qualify for the fourth tier. This is great, because it means it gets easier and easier to access higher tiers because you're required to add less and less PV to qualify. Each tier is more rewarding than the last: as you reach each new level, more freebies are available to you. You can qualify through "quick order" which is the standard, regular order you can place at any time throughout the month, or through your once-monthly Essential Rewards order. If you want to qualify for the most free product possible, I highly recommend qualifying by placing an ER order rather than a quick order, as some of the promotional products are "ER exclusives." This means that they are only available on qualifying Essential Rewards orders. Quick orders will not qualify you for the PV promotional products that fall under the category of "ER exclusives." When All Savings Opportunities are Combined...
I must admit that, when I initially signed up with Young Living, I was a bit of a skeptic because I hadn't yet witnessed the wonderful transformation that my friends and family would soon experience because of Young Living oils. Due to the fact that I was still hesitantly making up my mind when I became a member, I dragged my feet for months before signing up for Essential Rewards and participating in the monthly PV promotions. Looking back, I really wish I had jumped on board fully from the start. I ended up missing out on a lot of benefits that I could have been capitalizing on from the very beginning. But at least I can tell you from personal experience why it is such a great move to sign up for Essential Rewards and participate in monthly PV promotions simultaneously with your Young Living membership! And if you're already a member but for whatever reason haven't joined ER or considered the PV promotions, then by all means, don't let all the perks keep slipping between your fingers- sign up this month!
In the spirit of full disclosure, I should probably begin by sharing a little fact about my purchasing personality: I hate paying retail. My husband and I work our tails off earning our income- our paycheck represents a significant investment of our time and life energy. Thus, I bristle at the idea of spending more of our hard earned cash than necessary. If there are savings to be had, then I am determined to find them.
Unfortunately, my penny-pinching ways made it difficult for me to realize that sometimes you really do get exactly what you pay for. This is certainly true when it comes to essential oils. After a number of experiences with some of Young Living's top competitors (experiences that ranged from disappointing to downright alarming), the lightbulb finally switched on in my head: the wellbeing of my family is well worth the investment, and I need to stop cutting corners, because I truly am getting exactly what I pay for.
Thus, I reluctantly resigned myself to pay top dollar for the kind of quality oils I needed for my family. I bit the bullet and signed up for a wholesale membership. Now, don't get me wrong- I was very grateful for my membership. I knew it was a fantastic deal and afforded me a sizable discount of 24%. Nevertheless, I must admit that, occasionally, I still looked longingly at other price tags from other companies (even though I no longer trusted the quality of their product), wishing I could get a little better deal on my essential oils from Young Living.
Then one day, another lightbulb turned on for me, yet again, when I started digging deeper into Young Living’s programs. Suddenly I realized how silly I was for not taking advantage of the Essential Rewards program and monthly PV promotions. When I initially signed up as a member, my sponsor had explained Essential Rewards to me over the phone, but I was still somewhat of a skeptic at the time and brushed it off. Also, I am a visual person and I hadn't actually sat down to thoroughly examine the programs and crunch the numbers myself.... But when I did, wow! I was so upset that I hadn't signed up sooner! My penny-pinching personality was back in action and I enrolled that very day!
Let me break it down for you:
Wholesale Membership = 24% discount off of retail
Essential Rewards = up to 25% additional discount* off of wholesale in the form of ER points for future redemption that you can spend on any full PV product offered by Young Living.
Monthly PV Promotional Gifts = a collection of products gifted to you for FREE just for placing orders that reach certain tiers of PV minimums. When placing an order of at least 300 PV, the value of the free promotional product often lands somewhere between $180-$220 retail. That's a lot of freebies!
* Initially, you will earn 10% of the total of your qualifying ER order back in Essential Reward points for the first three months, then 20% back in points for the next 21 months. From thereon after, you will earn a full 25% back in points on all ER orders.
Time to Crunch Some Numbers
So, let's work this out with real product and real numbers, using this month's current PV promotion for December, 2017. For the sake of this exercise, say I want to buy a number of oils, and I also have a few friends and family who are interested in Young Living but haven't yet made the decision to get a membership. Thus, I invite them to order with me so they can try out the products and form an educated opinion. Together, our combined order looks like this:
In the table above we have accounted for the discounts given through Young Living wholesale membership and the Essential Rewards (ER) program. After taking 24% off retail and then crediting 25% off wholesale to account for ER points, you can see that the savings is substantial: the combined savings is equal to 43% off original retail! With just these two discounts alone, prices are already looking pretty attractive compared to the competition.
But, it still gets better! Our calculations thus far still don't account for monthly PV bonuses! Our order listed above is completely comprised of full PV products and therefore has a total PV of 303.25 because the wholesale cost of the order is $303.25. Because our order surpasses the 300 PV tier, it qualifies for every single PV promotional freebie available for December:
300 PV Tier: Retail value of $219.08
15-ml Sacred Frankincense
5-ml Nutmeg
This means that, when placing an order with a wholesale cost of $303.25, we are awarded $219.08 worth of free gifts with December’s PV promotion alone! Dividing $219.08 by $303.25, we find that a whopping 72.2% of the value of our wholesale order is given back to us in freebies, thanks to the December 2017 PV promotion!!!
If you’re like me, you’re probably so excited already that you can’t sit still. But would you believe that there is still one remaining perk in store for you if you haven’t yet signed up for wholesale membership? Here’s the scoop:
When you sign up as a Young Living wholesale member, you’ll start by purchasing your choice of premium starter kit which caries a Point Value of 100 PV. So, if you sign up for Essential Rewards at the same time you sign up for you wholesale membership, you get to apply the 100 PV from your premium starter kit to your first Essential Rewards order! This means that, without purchasing anything but your starter kit, you’ve already met the first PV tier in the monthly promotional PV program and will be receiving the first PV bonus product of the month absolutely free! It also means that if you want to receive all the promotional freebies offered at the most rewarding tier of 300 PV, you’re already a third of the way to your goal, because you can apply the 100 PV from your premium starter kit to your first ER order!
So, to recap:
You receive an initial 24% off of retail with your wholesale membership
Then, you receive up to an additional 25% back in ER points when you signup for Essential Rewards
Then, you receive promotional freebies every month when you place orders with qualifying point volume. Each ascending tier is more rewarding than the last. If you were to take full advantage of December's promotion and place an order qualifying for the most rewarding tier of 300 PV, you would receive an additional 72.2% of the wholesale cost of our order back in freebies.
When you sign up for both the wholesale membership and Essential Rewards at the same time, you get to apply the 100 PV from your starter kit to your first ER order! This effectively means you’ve already reached the first rewards tier of 100 PV just with the purchase of your premium starter kit alone!
Folks.... it doesn't get any better than this!
For a penny-pinching shopper like myself, I was on cloud 9 when I realized what I could do to maximize my essential oil budget and get incredibly high quality oils for such a steal!
